My time in Kuala Lumpur is about. I fly back tonight. This time I wrote not so much. Was simply because I was on a somewhat lazy, on the other hand, that I have not spent so much free time. All my free days I spent in Jakarta and I have already written about it much.
I promise I'm on my next trip back and give me even more diligent effort. Pioneer word of honor!

One would hardly think it possible. Here I am a Muslim country. In a country where everyone is automatically a Muslim Malay at birth and where the waste from the "true faith" is threatened with imprisonment. Nevertheless, the Weinachsterror in stores is just as bad as in D-land. All malls full of "Christmas trees" in front of where you shoot each other with enthusiasm. Constant droning of Christmas music. Lots of people with red pointed caps and "Christmas super special offers" in all stores.
There seems to be a habit in my travels that the planned return journey times will never be met. This time was the flight back to the 7th Planned in December. It has been Copied quite early on that this is not keeping well. So I called for Lufthansa to rebook the flight. A week later would be quite good, so the 14th The friendly lady on the phone told me that the next possible flight from the 14th was not until 19 December. That was me then but a little late. So look, I turned on the preceding days. 12th was still possible and the 13th with Austrian Airlines, but with a rather silly flying time in the middle of the night.
Oh well. So the 12th taken.
The week before, it became apparent that would not be the rich, because work on Thursday and Friday was not possible. So I called again and 13 on the changed.
For the weekend I had planned to fly to Jakarta on Monday morning and back again. So I was in the airline AirAsia's office and bought tickets. "Back to Jakarta on Saturday morning and Monday morning," I said the lady.
On Saturday morning I sat at the airport and look at my booking for the flight back to Germany. Suddenly a lot to me: 13 December 0:50 clock is not much better than 12 December 20:50. Is actually the same night. While certainly the next day, but really is not better. If I had not yet looked on it again, I would be on 13 Shortly before midnight, appeared at the airport. One day too late. So called again. With luck and a lot of looking, I have a flight for 17 December 20:50 to get. Probably the last free place before Christmas. The 19th was now full.
Gut. It was clarified. So come to Jakarta. Was a great weekend. On Monday morning, got up at 4:00, arrived at 5:00 am at the airport check-in. The look in their list, on my ticket back to the list, again on the ticket, "Excuse me, you have a flight tonight to 18:50 clock." I said, "Maybe!" Look at my ticket too. Indeed! Somehow I had bought the week before the wrong ticket. Although I'd say "Monday morning", but you should just look at the ticket again when you receive it. I've discussed a little bit, but to change the flight was not possible. Oh great!
Well, the disaster was limited. In Kuala Lumpur was on this Monday holiday. I had only learned on Friday because I had already bought the tickets. If I had known earlier on, I would have bought anyway for Monday evening. Trouble was only the lost sleep and I had already checked out from the hotel. Was then again a very nice day in Jakarta.
Today I still sometimes used the opportunity to me something to look into KL. Malaysia is indeed something similar to Asia in the small. Here live Malays, Chinese and Indians. Accordingly, it is of course relevant KL city neighborhoods such as Little India and Chinatown. That's what I wanted but then I look at it again. Like everything else you can reach the public with the best transportation. Both are right next to each other. Practically, one on a side street in "India" and the other in "China".
In Chinatown, there is the largest market for counterfeit goods, which I have ever seen. These natural to eat a lot. We have here in KL practically to choose between all kinds of Asian food.
It is interesting how agreements are made in this country. The official language is "Bahasa Malaysia". This is very similar to the Indonesian. Apparently, the talks here but hardly any. Maybe the Malays among themselves, but otherwise it is not really so far. Slang is mostly English. Which also differs quite significantly. On the pronunciation of an Indian, I am indeed now have a little used to it. Actually sounds much like the Indians of Kaya Jana. The Chinese have a much getting used to pronunciation and mumble quite terribly. They also speak somehow a terrible gibberish between Malay, Chinese dialects and some English. The worst is the English of the Malays. Since it is already partly hard to communicate with a taxi driver.
In general taxi ride is here again quite different. To get a taxi on the street is not easy. If you then find a time is far from certain that the leaves also to where you want to go and despite the metered price is often negotiable. For me it has proven to be best if you know the usual price. When the taxi driver wants to have more, it simply allowed to stand. Then comes behind and already drives a then also at that price. The negotiation of the price also has a clear advantage. The driver then takes the shortest route. With the meter's can sometimes be ne city tour.
Yesterday evening I was traveling with two colleagues from Vienna. We wanted to see the Petronas Towers, once from above. As mentioned above? The highest twin towers in the world from above? Yes it can. From the second-tallest building in the city, the TV tower, you can look down on the tower. Sounds kind of stupid mathematically, but is possible. Why, I'll tell later.
So we are gone off of Hotel, only have once again taken the Komuter to the central station and then switch to another line. Is something similar like the Berlin U-Bahn, so sometimes the top and below ground. Putra LRT is called. There is only one small difference: this train runs leaderless. Moreover, the Monorail and the Aero Train at the airport. Yes, yes! Germany's largest technology company, take note!
So what does! So we have this Putra LRT KLCC and direction (Kuala Lumpur City Centre) is run. But not quite up, but got off two stops before (Dang Wangi). From the train station out there was at first a magnificent view of the Twin Towers and the TV tower. Then we tried to get to the TV tower. Was not that easy. Finally, we have found the way. A lot of stairs, a few liters of sweat less (95% humidity, 32 degrees Celsius) and a rapid drive to lift it was probably the best view of the city. The shooting turned out to be a little difficult. There is a viewing platform over the entire area where you can not just put up a small mini tripod to get to the night shots. So you need a little ingenuity and an extremely steady hand. Well, I got it at least gets executed. Back downstairs, we were hungry. So we tried to feed something. Downtown KL is not really a problem. An open-air restaurant next to the other. We are so pure in one and have ordered. Was on the menu: with lots of garlic. That's right! It's can still smell
No sooner was the food on the table, it started to rain. As I said, we sat outside. The operation has tried to iron things out and umbrellas set up. That was after about 2 minutes, even worthless. It was pelting down with cans. We then switched to the more generous roofed bar and have eaten there are the. The service has kept us on the way the sun shields. Nevertheless, the beer is then tasted a little thinner. Since it was raining so hard, nothing remains to us no alternative but to await the end with the help of a few beers.
Oh, why you see the tower from the top of a smaller building? The TV tower stands on a hill.
Everyone knows surely the debate in Germany about the far too frequent holidays. This affects all know, the German economy in particular. There are already brilliant politicians come up with the idea that the national is no longer on 3 To be held in October, but as always on 1 Sunday in October. This saves one a day. The many days off we can not compete with Asian competitors.
Now I have found a calendar with the holidays in Malaysia. Not only that, there are very many of them, no! For each of the official holiday falls on a Sunday (2006 eg New Year) there is an extra day free. The Malays come to 24 public holidays per year, which averages almost every second Weeks, an additional day off. The logic of our political and economic leadership following, we will soon have the most hopelessly left behind.
I was in Jakarta at the weekend. Is not far from here and there I had to visit someone in person. Flight time is about 2 hours. Return flight at just over 100 €. Can you do so. This time I'm on public transport to the airport and driven back. Went wonderfully. The hotel is situated, as I have already written, in Mid Valley. Directly at the same station. The railway lines are called Komuter and are comparable to the Berlin S-Bahn. Only a little cleaner. You drive a station to station Sentral, which is the central railway station, and then moves to the KLIA Express (Kuala Lumpur International Airport Express). This is a very practical device. When one Malaysian Airlines, you can check here at the station. On the return flight can be taken here against his luggage. For all other airlines, it is just a quick airport access road. For just over 10 € you get comfortable, quick and without congestion airport.
The real experience I had, but on the return trip. From plane through passport control and customs so everything is fairly straightforward. Then the train. No problem. It can be seen everywhere in the airport, how much time you have had, goes to the next train. So one knows whether they have or do not run. I was lucky. It has to rush without, fit the bill perfectly. Barely on the platform, the train came. Then, towards Central Station. Then change to the Komuter. Now the problems start. First time to find out what line should I take since. In the other direction, it was easy, because there was only one. Looking for a bit I got it. So grab the bar and slid the ticket into the machine. Smart as I am, I had the same ticket for round-trip ticket purchased. Tröööööt! No admittance! Well, was just on Friday and now Sunday. This applies only to the same day. So to the vending machine and buy a new ticket. Cost is € 0.30, so to get over. Then through the gate and down the escalator. Here is the next practical device. A display panel on the platform indicates when the next train in the desired direction. The inscription is in Malay, so not to be interpreted immediately. Because what was of 5.36. Could also mean something like 5 ½ minutes. The platform was deserted, not to say I was alone. Shortly after eleven. Well, you need not fear. On every platform there is an area with rows of chairs and a TV before. So, you can also sell the few minutes. Worse than the superstars on German television Kann indeed are not. After a few minutes indicated that stupid board is still 5.36 and I was still alone on the platform. Slowly it dawned on me that this was 5:36 something like an absolute time specification. Which means: "Today, no train". Oh great. World City shortly after 11 Since then come back memories of the Berlin S-Bahn. Timetable sought and actually, the last train left 5 minutes before my arrival. Now I'm sure I can not be far away from Berlin. Oh well. Do I just get out and take a taxi. So back to the ticket barrier and slid into the slot. Trööööt! Do not pass. Well, sort of bad luck. The ticket is valid only for output at the destination station and that is not here. What to do? Follow the tracks to the station on foot Mid Valley? Naja. Stay at the station? It's clean, there are television and is warm. But it is still not really enticing. Climb over the barrier? No idea where you have to stay overnight. I was looking for someone to help me, but at the platform and the Surrounding tickets and keeper's house was nobody around. Finally, I saw someone from the staff but desperate to hang around the bar. The read me a short apology out of my hand. I then searched the taxi rank and also found relatively quickly. Jump into the first taxi and said, "please Boulevard Hotel". The answer: "Do you have a coupon?". I must have looked a bit silly have. The driver then said, if I give him 10 ringgit, you go that way. Yet to find a taxi counter, I was a bit too goofy. It is common here, in fact, not to pay the taxi. You buy a coupon at taxi counters. It certainly has some advantages, such as then degenerates into a taxi ride is not a city tour. Anyway, 10 minutes later I was in the hotel room. Was almost at the station: Clean, with television, but cool.
So, the first working day is over. Have not had time to look around in the city. But the first impression is, as I've written, not bad. Although it is a lot of traffic on the roads, but not nearly as chaotic as in Jakarta. Otherwise makes the city a much cleaner appearance. However, I also had this again the same experience as in Indonesia: no electricity. This time the cause is probably different. Somehow is a part of the power supply on the long road from here to Germany lost. Could be that I again have some free time here. Well, just about enough for today. The jet lag a little exhausting. I'm pretty tired. So, until the days.
