Coup d'etat *)
This country offers all kinds of interesting. After a bomb or gas explosion (nobody knows exactly what, on that below), a fire in the annex to the hotel, the murder of a politician a few days ago, the earthquake, there are now so a coup attempt.
Well, actually read the whole first somehow a little different in the local press. The so-called rebels were in the hotel "Peninsula" at a press conference. After they marched across half the city were. They came from a courtroom in which just ran a trial against them because of an earlier coup attempt. Interestingly, the white military policemen to guard the defendants joined this. During car press conference called on one of the accused the military to withdraw support for this corrupt government. Then the hotel was surrounded by security forces.
So a real "coup" looks to me somehow different. It is not even 50 people, half of them are the guards. The "rebels" have no authority in the military and no troops behind. Only the call. Ok, which is certainly not subtle, but a coup attempt is not the real. Who are the guests leave the hotel on preventing, can also, depending on the source of information, different interpretations. In the mirror, for example, is "the soldiers". So what? The inside or the outside? The local press was heard, guests were told they could move freely, the only access to the third Floor, the whereabouts of the officers themselves, had been denied them.
It is also interesting and has now been blocked nearly the entire center of Makati. The office buildings around it were evacuated. The Philham Life Tower in which the NSN gefindet office. This is about 500m as the crow flies. The Glorietta and all surrounding malls were closed in the afternoon. Distance to the hotel about 1 km. Want to use heavy artillery and bombers?
I've just heard from a colleague via SMS, which was imposed for tonight from 0 -5 a curfew. I called him shortly. He said the whole thing was already finished. At about 5 clock, the hotel was stormed. The "rebels" have not fought. Why this now anyway curfew? No idea. Had not until today anyway to cut down on the shit
My colleague sees things the way I Like. Looked like a coup in the classical sense, the whole not really. The "rebels" were rather trying for the support of the population. It was already about to topple this government. But unlike a typical coup, the whole place was essentially without force of arms but should be achieved primarily through the streets of pressure.
The fact that this government is corrupt, there is indeed now on the whole, no doubt. Of the population which is even assumed that they were behind the bombing, which took place in October at the Glorietta Mall. It should serve to distract, just re-emerged from the corruption allegations and calls for his resignation. The whole thing was a bit strange. First, there was not the slightest doubt, that was a bomb. The police claims to have found even parts of C4. When, then none of the usual suspects, which here heisen Abu Sayaff, and known to the rumors were getting louder by the government participation, the whole turned mysteriously into a gas explosion. It is also interesting that the President has lifted the court ruling against her predecessor, who was convicted of corruption and embezzling millions of dollars (euros, not pesos), three days after the verdict. Nachtijall ick galumph hear you, as already used to say to the ancient Romans. The setting probably what it blooms when it is only not even president. You have to fight back against calls for his resignation ever by force.
Me the way, they can visit their home and road blocks once in the evening. I'm off tomorrow morning in Puerto Galera. Tomorrow is namely here and hence long weekend holiday.
